In this edition of Doorstep History, we visit the Lickey Hills as the Birmingham Civic Society commemorates its centenary by undertaking a tree planting scheme, organised by Geoff Cole of the society’s Trees for Life scheme. As the football season comes to an end we have memories of Jeff Astle, the former West Bromwich Albion and England striker, and we look back to the day Birmingham City played Barcelona and won a unique trophy.
