This edition of Doorstep History comes from the Hall of Memory as it reopens after being closed during the work to redesign Centenary Square. We feature the reopening ceremony and look at the history of the building. Cllr Ian Ward, leader of the city council and Paul Ellis, curator of the Hall of Memory give their comments. We talk to BBC presenter Nick Owen in his role as an ambassador for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Also featured is Sec Lt John Eldridge, a former teacher of St George’s School in Ladywood who was killed in action exactly century ago on the Western Front.
